In his speech, Saka told the story of a 14-year-old boy from Rwanda whose eyesight improved through BigShoe, and thanked France Football for the chance to raise awareness of these causes.
The Socrates Award began in 2022. Earlier winners include Sadio Mané, Vinícius Júnior and Jenni Hermoso.
Why it matters
It is a reminder that a Ballon d’Or night is about more than goals. For Nigerian fans, it also puts a British-Nigerian footballer and one of the country’s biggest music stars on the same stage, celebrating work that changes children’s lives.

Jay-Z on Why Rap Is Loved Around the World: “I Can Be Something Tomorrow”
By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment · Published 24 October 2026
Few artists have taken hip-hop further than Jay-Z, and in a short black-and-white interview clip he explains why he believes rap connects with people everywhere. His answer is not about money, fame or fashion. It is about hope. Watch the clip below, then read our summary of what he says.
Video: interview clip as supplied. All rights belong to the owner. Shared here for news and commentary.
What he says in the clip
According to the on-screen captions, the clip opens with the question of why rap is so loved around the world. His answer starts with a picture of life with very little. He talks about families on food stamps, about having cereal for dinner the night before, and about not having anything. Then the tone turns. The same young person who has nothing today is thinking, “tomorrow I can be something.” He describes the feeling of not being looked down on, and of finding a way out of a hard situation. He closes by calling that a worldwide message that resonates with people.
The key ideas
Rap speaks first to people who start with very little, and tells them that where they begin does not decide where they finish.
The music turns hardship into a plan: “I have nothing now, but I am going to do this.”
Respect matters as much as money. Being looked down on is part of the pain that rap pushes back against.
Because struggle and hope exist in every country, the message travels far beyond the place where it was first written.
How rap took him places
His own story fits the message. Jay-Z grew up in the Marcy Houses public housing complex in Brooklyn, New York, and released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in 1996. He went on to co-found Roc-A-Fella Records and later Roc Nation, and he became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2017. Forbes has also reported that he became hip-hop’s first billionaire. Those figures are widely reported, and they show how far a rapper’s words can carry a person who once had very little.
A legacy that goes beyond his own records
The legacy he points to is bigger than any single album. Rap gave young people in the Bronx, Brooklyn and many other places a way to describe their lives in their own voice. Today that voice is heard in Lagos, London, Johannesburg and Accra as well. Nigerian artists such as Olamide helped popularise rapping in Yoruba, and Afrobeats stars regularly blend rap flows into their songs. The thread is the same: tell the truth about where you are, and show the way to where you are going. If you want to see that story in action, read our post on Olamide’s O2 Arena show, and watch the music videos on our Videos page.
What young creators can take from it
Start where you are. Write about the life you really know, because honest stories connect best.
Treat your situation as the first chapter, not the last.
Keep going when the start looks small. Many careers began with a single recorded verse.
Build something that lasts: your catalogue, your brand and your team are your legacy.
If you are making music in Nigeria or anywhere else and want to be heard, our promotion page shows how Blessed Records can help.

By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment · Published 22 October 2026
Olamide, the YBNL boss known to fans as Baddo, has confirmed the biggest London headline show of his career. He will take over The O2 Arena on Thursday 25 March 2027, according to the announcement from promoter Hera Touring and YBNL Entertainment.
Promotional video: Olamide announcement campaign. All rights belong to the owner.Official poster: Olamide, YBNL Nation and Hera Touring. All rights belong to the owners.
What has been confirmed
The show is set for Thursday 25 March 2027 at The O2 Arena in London, a venue that holds about 20,000 people.
It follows his headline night at OVO Arena Wembley in November 2025.
The set is billed as a career-spanning performance with his best-known songs and music from his 2025 album Olamidé.
According to reports, he joins Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake and Rema on the list of Nigerian stars who have headlined the arena.
How to get tickets
The announcement lists an O2 Priority and artist presale on Wednesday 21 October at 10am, and a venue presale on Thursday 22 October at 10am. Olamide’s own post says general sale opens on Friday 23 October at 10am. Tickets are expected through AXS, Ticketmaster and Cokobar.com, and the artist’s website, olamide.london, is the place to confirm details. Always buy from official sellers, because resale tickets from unofficial sites may not be valid. Update: the latest official poster now reads “Tickets out now” and lists AXS, Ticketmaster, Cokobar and olamide.london as the places to buy.
Why it matters
Olamide has shaped modern Nigerian music for years, as a rapper who helped popularise rapping in Yoruba and as the label owner who signed Asake to YBNL in 2022. Seeing him move from Wembley to The O2 within two years shows how strongly the Afrobeats audience in London keeps growing. It also continues a pattern we have covered on this page: Nigerian artists are filling the largest indoor venues in Europe. For more on that story, read about Asake’s big 2026.

Asake Brings the In God We Trust World Tour to London’s O2 Arena
By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment · Published 22 October 2026
Asake’s In God We Trust World Tour reached London’s O2 Arena on Thursday 15 October 2026, and clips from the run are already circulating among fans. Here is what the tour is about, and why the London date matters.
Video: fan and social media footage of the O2 Arena show. All rights belong to the owner.
The tour in brief
The tour supports his album M$NEY, which we looked at in our piece on Asake’s explosive 2026.
It opened on 4 July 2026 with a headline set at Afro Nation in Portimão, Portugal.
A North American leg followed in August and September, with arena stops in cities including Chicago, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles.
The European leg brought the tour to The O2 in London on 15 October, with a date at Accor Arena in Paris planned for 24 October.
Why London matters
London has been central to Asake’s international story. He sold out The O2 Arena in 2023 and again in September 2024 on his Lungu Boy World Tour, when actor Idris Elba presented him with a sold-out plaque. Posts shared around this year’s night describe another packed room, with the stage set featuring a brass section dressed in white alongside his band.
Video: footage from Afro Nation. All rights belong to the owner.
The second clip comes from his Afro Nation appearance, the festival where this tour began. It shows how much of his sound depends on live musicians, with drums and guitar giving songs from the fuji, amapiano and Afropop family a big, human feel.
What artists can learn
Asake’s run shows the value of building a live identity: a strong band, a clear visual world and a story that fans can follow from festival to arena. Independent artists can borrow the principle on a smaller scale by investing in rehearsal, in good musicians and in recording short clips that capture the energy of every show.

The stage moment fans called an anthem
Another fan-made clip shows Wizkid on a raised platform above a packed arena crowd, with the on-screen caption “African National anthem”. It is the kind of line fans write when a chorus is sung back by thousands of voices at once.

A Fan, a Dance Floor and Tiwa Savage: DJ Davey Shares a Joyful Moment
By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment · Published 22 October 2026
Not every great music moment happens on a stage. This week, DJ Davey, who performs as DJ Vadey, shared a video of a lively moment with Tiwa Savage in the middle of a happy crowd.
Video: DJ Davey (DJ Vadey). All rights belong to the owner.
What happens in the clip
The video shows Tiwa Savage, in a white top and holding a small handheld fan, laughing as she dances with a man in a bright blue patterned shirt. Around them, people smile and lift their phones to film. The caption says Tiwa asked whether he wanted to dance, and he happily said yes, calling it big vibes with the Queen.
Why moments like this matter
They feel real. Fans connect with artists who laugh, dance and mingle, not only those who perform.
They travel fast. A short, warm clip is easy to share and often reaches people who have never heard the artist’s songs.
They help DJs and artists grow together. Collaboration and friendly visibility between DJs and singers is a big part of Afrobeats culture.
Tiwa Savage is one of the most recognisable women in Afrobeats, and clips like this show the relaxed side of life around the music. If you enjoy seeing the people behind the songs, keep an eye on this page for more.

Artists of the Week: Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Cardi B
By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment · Published 22 October 2026
This week’s spotlight goes to three American stars with strong links to each other: rapper Rick Ross, DJ and producer DJ Khaled, and rapper Cardi B.
Rick Ross: Set in Stone
Rick Ross released his twelfth studio album, Set in Stone, on 17 July 2026, his first full project in nearly five years. The 19-track album features guests including T.I., Jeezy, Don Toliver, French Montana, Kodak Black and BigXthaPlug, and its lead single was “Minks in Miami” with French Montana and Max B. He is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album Port of Miami with a black-tie tour backed by an orchestra and a choir. The clip below, captioned as coming live from “The Throne” on Star Island, shows relaxed scenes at a palm-lined property.

DJ Khaled: the connector
DJ Khaled is known for bringing big names together on one record, and he has worked with both of this week’s other artists. His first Grammy-winning song, “Higher”, featured John Legend and the late Nipsey Hussle. In the clip below, shot on a golf course under palm trees, his caption says he told people from the start that they would see this moment, even when they did not believe him.
Video: DJ Khaled, artist and DJ of the week. All rights belong to the owner.
Cardi B: a Grammy winner and a Khaled favourite
Cardi B won the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2019 for Invasion of Privacy. She has joined DJ Khaled on songs including “Wish Wish” with 21 Savage and “Big Paper”, the latter added to his album Khaled Khaled only hours before its release.
Photo: as shared publicly for Cardi B, artist of the week. All rights belong to the owner.
The connection
Khaled’s catalogue includes hits with Rick Ross such as “We Takin’ Over” and “I’m So Hood”, so this week’s trio sits inside one connected story of Miami and New York hip-hop. It also shows how collaboration builds careers, an idea worth remembering for every upcoming artist.

Spotlight Artiste: Daniel Tunez — The Afro-Fusion Sensation Ready to Take Over the Airwaves
By Blessed Records Exclusive Entertainment
The Nigerian music scene is constantly evolving, but every once in a while, an artist emerges with a sound and a message that commands attention. Meet Adebayo Daniel Adeyemi, professionally known as Daniel Tunez, a dynamic talent who is redefining Afrobeat, Afro-fusion, and Reggae Blues.
Deep roots and early beginnings: born on September 28th, 1994, Daniel Tunez’s musical foundation is deeply tied to his heritage. While he is a proud native of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, he was born and raised in the vibrant, fast-paced environment of Lagos. The diverse sounds of the city quickly caught his ear, and by the time he was in secondary school, his passion for music had fully taken root. What started as a teenage fascination has now blossomed into a lifelong calling.
A sound with a purpose: Daniel Tunez is not bound by a single genre. His music spans across all ramifications of sound, though it remains deeply anchored in the rhythmic pockets of Afrobeat, the smooth blends of Afro-fusion, and the soulful grooves of Reggae Blues. But for Daniel, the art goes far beyond just crafting a catchy melody.
“For me, music isn’t just a sound. It’s a statement. Every sound I make and every word I write is a reflection of where I’ve been and where I’m going.”
His journey to this point has not been without its obstacles, but his unwavering faith in his vision has kept him moving forward. Music became his sanctuary. “Music gave me a voice when the world went silent,” he notes, “and now I’m using that voice to speak for those still finding theirs. I don’t just make music to be heard. I make music to move people, to heal, and to inspire. This isn’t just a career; it’s my calling.”
What’s next: fans of the label already know the magic Daniel Tunez can create. In 2023, he delivered a breathtaking feature on the hit track “MAMA,” alongside our main recording artist, High Glory Music. The chemistry on that track was undeniable, resulting in a truly amazing song that resonated deeply with listeners. The good news? That was just the beginning.
Daniel Tunez is gearing up to release a wave of new solo music very soon. Furthermore, High Glory Music and the entire team are actively working toward featuring Daniel Tunez on an upcoming, highly anticipated project. It promises to be an absolute rollercoaster of a track, and the world should definitely be waiting. “I’m just getting started,” Daniel promises.

Spotlight Artiste: TeaFlash — the Afrobeats voice preserving the legacy
When you think of the artists shaping the future of Afrobeats with deep-rooted passion and undeniable resilience, names that have put in years of dedicated work naturally rise to the top. Meet TeaFlash — a seasoned professional whose sonic journey bridges the gap between classic Afrobeats energy and modern longevity.
With deep roots and experience in the Nigerian music industry, TeaFlash is an artist whose dedication matches his craft. Sharing close ties as the younger brother to Remilekun Blessed, he has navigated the industry with grit, notably making waves with his standout work on Riddim Acool back in 2021.
The story behind the name: born Babatunde Oyenuga, the moniker TeaFlash carries a deeply personal meaning — “Tea” is drawn from the first letter of his name, Tunde, and “Flash” represents his vision to shine brightly. Hailing originally from the Ijebu Waterside area of Ogun State, his musical awakening was sparked when he heard Afrobeats legend Wizkid drop his historic breakout hit, “Holla At Your Boy.” Inspired, TeaFlash adopted the core essence of Afrobeats, styling his sound for long-term sustainability, brand endorsements and timeless appeal.
Starting his official recording journey around 2012, TeaFlash has built an impressive catalog of over 20 recorded tracks, including dynamic collaborations with fellow underground trailblazers. Fans should get ready for “I Am The Light,” presented by High Glory Music and featuring TeaFlash. Promising to bring fresh energy and an uplifting vibe, this upcoming drop is set to remind listeners why his music continues to resonate deeply.
“Music is a gateway to the soul; it could be a source of joy or the reason for depression. Be intentional about who you listen to.” — TeaFlash

Spotlight Artiste: Dollarboy, the street’s melodic voice rising in Afrosounds
Every once in a while, the bustling streets of Lagos produce a voice that perfectly captures its vibrant energy and untold stories. Adeleke Toheeb Ishola, better known to the world as Dollarboy, is that voice. Originally from Oyo State but born and raised in the heart of Lagos, Dollarboy is a singer, rapper and songwriter who is rapidly making his mark. His music is a rich mix of Afrosounds, with raw street energy woven into deeply melodic storytelling.
Dollarboy did not always know he was destined for the microphone. His musical awakening came later in life, as he matured and gained a deeper understanding of his creative potential. A pivotal moment was finding inspiration in Zlatan Ibile, the renowned hitmaker and CEO of ZTTW, whom Dollarboy chose to look up to as a mentor. Watching Zlatan navigate the industry and champion the street-pop movement ignited a fire in him to pursue his own sonic dreams.
Before the studio sessions and the beat drops, he was a young man hustling to make a way for himself. During that daily grind, the name Dollarboy was born. It was given to him by a young, affectionate boy on the streets who believed in his aura so much that he promised to be his first and biggest fan until the day he achieved global stardom. That origin story remains the heartbeat of Dollarboy’s drive, a constant reminder of the grassroots support cheering for him from the very beginning.
Dollarboy took the leap into music at the age of 18, introducing his melodious and vibrant style to the world. He officially stepped into the limelight on May 1, 2021, making his debut as a featured artist on the track Upcoming, a collaboration with Gabbi and Kalipopo. He further showed his versatility and Afrosound roots when he was featured on McQueenni’s energetic track POP.
These early collaborations have laid a strong foundation for an artist who knows how to hold his own on any beat. With a sound that resonates with the streets and melodies that captivate the soul, Dollarboy is a testament to raw, organic talent and a name to keep on your radar as he continues his rise.
Spotlight Artiste: Brynho, the Edo-born Afro-fusion talent reaching for the global stage
At just 23 years old, Brynho is already proving that he has the vision, the drive and the sound to make a massive impact on the music industry. Hailing from Edo State, a region celebrated for its deep-rooted cultural heritage and artistic richness in Nigeria, Brynho carries the pride and vibrant energy of his origins into every beat and melody he delivers.
Operating in the dynamic lane of Afro-fusion, Brynho blends traditional African rhythms with contemporary, boundary-pushing sounds. His favorite artist and greatest musical inspiration is the iconic Wizkid. Drawing from Wizkid’s blueprint of taking Afrobeats to the world, Brynho is carefully crafting a signature sound designed to captivate a global audience while staying authentic to his roots.
He has already begun making serious waves with his latest releases, Temptation and My Cross. These tracks are a perfect introduction to his versatility, showing his ability to navigate different emotions with infectious hooks and smooth, compelling vocals. They are a clear sign of the raw talent bubbling just beneath the surface.
Brynho is not here just to participate. He is here to take over. His aspirations for Afro-music are monumental. He does not just want to be famous. He has his sights set on becoming one of the biggest and best artists in the history of Afrobeats. It is a lofty goal, but with his relentless energy and clear sense of direction, he is actively laying the groundwork for a legendary career.
The journey to the top continues very soon. Brynho is gearing up to drop his highly anticipated next single, HIGHER. If his trajectory so far is any indication, this next track will do exactly what the title promises and elevate his sound and status to a whole new level.
Keep your eyes and ears on Brynho. The ascent has just begun.
